April 2024 Wrap Up

This was my last full month of school so I couldn’t read as much as I wanted to 🙁

Stats:

  • Read: 2 books
  • One 3 star read, one 5 star
  • Favorite book of April: Kings Rising

Kings Rising by C.S. Pacat

This was an utterly perfect conclusion to the Captive Prince trilogy. The angst, romance, betrayal, plot twists, action, and emotion were all dialed up to 100%. I loved the conclusion to Laurent and Damen’s character arcs, and everything was wrapped up beautifully. I would highly recommend this series if you want a historical Greek and Roman-inspired saga that will wreck you. Rating: 5 stars

Old Flames and New Fortunes by Sarah Hogle

You Deserve Each Other, also by Sarah Hogle, is one of my favorite books of all time, so unfortunately I am always going to be expecting something just as good from her other books. My expectations were not met with this one. It just seemed like there were way too many things crammed into the plot; the fake dating, the wedding, Romina and Alex’s past, Romina’s trauma, and the magical shop. I felt a little overwhelmed by all of the side plots competing with each other. Also, I didn’t like the humor as much as in You Deserve Each Other; it was too over-the-top and millennial for me. The romance was okay if not a little boring. The reason why the main characters broke up as teenagers was so stupid and based on miscommunication, so I didn’t like that. Their reconnection was exciting at first because of the slight animosity between them, but once that went away I was bored. Rating: 3 stars
